Namdalen – a whole region to discover
Namdalen is Trøndelag's largest outdoor region – an area that stretches from the magnificent Namdalen coast in the west, through rich river deltas and lush rural landscapes, all the way to the wilderness-like mountain terrain towards the Swedish border in the east. It's a region with room for everyone: families with children, adventurous cyclists, fishing enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to experience Norway as it is a little off the beaten track.
Along the coast from Flatanger in the south to the geological gem of Leka in the north, you'll find white sandy beaches, fishing villages with centuries of history, and an archipelago of thousands of islands that invites you to go island-hopping, paddling, and sea fishing. Rørvik, the vibrant heart of the coast, offers a wonderful mix of modern coastal culture and deep historical roots. If you head a little further inland, three national parks, the famous salmon river Namsen, and Namsos – "the cradle of Trøndelag rock" – await.
Did you know? The Namdalen coast consists of several thousand islands, islets, and skerries. From the water's edge in the west to the mountains in the east, the contrasts are enormous – and you can experience it all on one and the same holiday.
Kleiva Camping is perfectly located on Vikna, just outside the centre of Rørvik. Here you have the ideal base for exploring the entire region. Start your day with fresh sea air at our site, set off on a voyage of discovery through Namdalen, and return to the campsite's tranquillity when evening falls.
