Nature for everyone – outdoor life on the Namdalen coast
The Namdalen coast is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, whether you prefer to explore the landscape on two wheels, in hiking boots, or with a fishing rod in hand. With Kleiva Camping as your base, you have the unique island scenery of Vikna and the mainland of Nærøysund right outside your door.
Three highlights for your trip:
- Summit hike with panoramic views: Head up to Hundhammerfjellet on the Abelvær peninsula, a short drive across the Nærøysund Bridge. On a clear day, you'll have an absolutely incredible view over all of Outer Namdalen, with wind turbines behind you and the sea stretching as far as the eye can see. For shorter hikes on Vikna itself, Vattafjellet is a great alternative with a lovely view over Rørvik.
- Cycling by the open sea: The island realm around Rørvik is made for cycling trips. With relatively flat terrain, but with a constant, beautiful view of islets and skerries, the county roads out here are classics among cycling tourists.
- Outstanding fishing: You don't have to travel far to try your luck. The sea around Rørvik is known for its fantastic deep-sea fishing for cod, saithe, and halibut. And if you're more in the mood for freshwater fishing or salmon rivers, it's not far to the mainland and the deep forests either.
Whether you're after action or simply want to find a quiet rock by the water and enjoy the silence, the nature out here is generous with its experiences.
